Each Spring, the Academic Boosters Club arranges for MCHS students to visit UC Merced, tour labs, participate in hands-on experiments, and talk to professors in science and engineering.

Before the trip, students rank their interest in a number of morning lab options and a similar amount of afternoon lab options in areas ranging from biology, physics, and psychology, and including the option of touring the nature preserve. ABC uses students’ ranked interests to schedule each in two morning labs and one afternoon lab. 

Once at UC Merced, students not only participate in interesting labs and speak with working scientists, but also have an opportunity to explore the campus, choose from a variety of eateries for lunch, and get a small taste of university campus life.



They learn a lot and always enjoy the day.
